I was a professional photographer for about 30 years. I was also a lousy amateur bike racer. I got interested in shooting a bike race from the air, but back in 2019 drones weren’t readily available, and most were homemade. I started making my own and before long I was retired from photography and selling FPV drone frames full time.
I was among the pioneers in drone racing and drone cinematography. My drones were used in films, TV shows, and live sporting events, but I was most proud of making a drone for whale research.
One of my drones required a complicated manufacturing process that involved molding curved carbon sheets before CNC cutting. That process inspired me to create a carbon archtop guitar, and here we are now.
